On this page, you’ll find a variety of places that you can visit to view more educational resources, learn more about humane education as a whole, and learn more about how to become a more efficient educator in the modern age.

American Humane

American Humane offers many resources for shelters. Particularly relating to humane education, they offer many resources such as lesson plans. These plans change over time to stay up to date with the latest research and trends in humane education.

Charleston Animal Society

The Charleston Animal Society offers youth programming and educational videos, with both free and paid options for educational content access. Similar to Bark Academy, their resources focus on building a more compassionate next generation.

The National Humane Education Society

The National Humane Education Society provides a wide variety of lesson plans - all centered around animals. These lesson plans cover a variety of topics including “Adoptable Artwork” and “Dogs and Cats of the World”.

East Bay SPCA

East Bay SPCA provides a variety of activities and workbooks for kids. They have some resources focused specifically on developing knowledge in younger students and some resources meant for students of all ages.

Best Friends

Best Friends has a variety of resources for animal shelters and animal sheltering professionals. Included are educational resources to share with community members and adopters. Resources include videos and other informational content.

Humane Society of Missouri

The Humane Society of Missouri has a few different resources centered around education. Their first, the “Kind Kids” program helps teach students to care for homeless animals. They also have a program centered around school clubs.

The Latham Foundation

The Latham Foundation for the Promotion of Humane Education is a leader in the humane education space, producing a very wide variety of resources for humane educators. Their resources include videos, a newsletter, and a robust website.

HEART

HEART is an organization utilizing tenents of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to develop resources for humane education. They produce many different resources, with a new highlight being their free remote learning materials.

Humane Society of Greater Rochester

Lollypop Farm / The Humane Society of Greater Rochester produces a wonderful set of diverse resources for educators. One particular highlight of their resource bank is their Kahoot games (a popular online educational trivia platform).

Humane Society of the United States

The Humane Society of the United States provides a customized program for elementary school students entitled “From Nose to Tail”. In this program, they educate students (USA grades K-5) on how to be kind to all species.

Cochrane & Area Humane Society

The Cochrane & Area Humane Society has produced a series of lesson plans focusing on educating students on topics such as “The Human/Animal Bond”. Their resources connect to the Alberta Education Program of Studies

Humane Society International

Humane Society International provides a variety of training programs for teachers and students. They have many resources available for people looking to facilitate humane education sessions. In addition, they have a dog bite prevention program.
